We want your college experience to be a safe, happy and supported one. Looking after your wellbeing is a core priority for us all. We are proud to have been awarded the national ‘Young People Friendly’ award.
We have qualified nurses who provide general health advice, first-aid, help and support with medical conditions and where needed, referral to specialist services. We have Mental Health & Wellbeing Student Mentors based in the Wellbeing Room who provide:
There is also a team of trained counsellors who can offer more intensive support for a period of time if you need to explore issues that may be affecting your mental health.
We work closely with an organisation called Togetherall to provide a 24/7 online support service for students who may be struggling with how they feel. The service is monitored by trained counsellors, who will step in if they have any concerns about your safety.
If you are anxious about coming to College, or need support once you are here, you can ask your tutor about a study mentor or your classroom teacher about a study buddy. You could join the mentoring scheme yourself to help new students in your second year.
Our multi-faith chaplaincy team can support you with information and advice on faith issues and can be a friendly listening ear at times of personal loss or difficulty. They also have links to local faith communities in Swindon. Get in touch with the team on chaplaincy@newcollege.ac.uk.
