Additional Learning Support

If you have a physical or sensory impairment, learning differences such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, Autistic Spectrum Condition or any other learning needs, our Additional Support Team can help you. We are the only College in Wiltshire to have achieved the BDA Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark for a designated unit, the Skills Development Centre. 

What support can I get? 

  • 1:1 shared in-class support (following assessment) 
  • 1:1 specialist teaching from teachers qualified to teach and assess students with specific learning differences
  • Daily drop-in study skills sessions 
  • Access to examination arrangements 
  • Assistive technology and training to use it (Reading Pens, DocsPlus and the accessibility features in Microsoft Office 365 
  • Those with a diagnosis of Autism and an EHCP have access to Mentor 
  • Those with a diagnosis of Autism also have access to a baseroom with pod chairs, bean bags, puzzles and games.

Evolve 

Evolve is a bespoke programme of education and/or training for employment. The Evolve programme can only be accessed by you if you have been issued an Education, Health & Care Plan by Swindon Borough Council, and are not able to access mainstream education.
