Work Experience

Getting real-world work experience as part of your course will enhance your CV and support applications to both universities and employers. Our dedicated employability team will support you through the process.

Work experience is when you will go and work in a real working environment for a short placement or period of time. It is important for you to gain experience in the field you are interested in going into, especially in some industries as it shows commitment to your study.

HR

How does it Work?

Our study programmes allow you to undertake at least 30 hours of work experience or work-related activities. If you are studying a T Level you will do up to 45 days worth of work experience as part of your course.

Our employability team support you through the process:

  • Advising employers to contact
  • Checking health and safety and insurance of employers
  • Support during the placement
  • Getting feedback to use for future applications

Working with Employers

We work with local and regional employers through our Careers Extra Forum to arrange visits, talks and employability fairs. These events give students the opportunity to meet local employers and discuss work experience opportunities.
