A New College A Level Historical Practice student, Amber Goodman, has been accepted into the Courtauld Summer University.

The Art History Summer University, which starts this week, provides a lively and wide-ranging introduction to the subject of Art History. Over the course of the week, student will work closely with world-renowned art historians, curators and museum professionals, as well as current Courtauld students, to find out more about Art History and the possibilities of studying it at degree level. The theme for this year’s course is Art and Identity.

New College Historical Practice Lecturer, Russell Maggs, said: “It was not easy to apply, Amber had to produce an essay on a piece of art, on top of her current studies, while in lockdown. It’s fantastic to see our learners go the extra mile, especially during this time.”

Due to Covid-19, the programme will be running online this year, but will be done via video calls throughout the week. Amber said: “I’m excited to explore paintings and other artworks and discuss their meaning with others, it’s a great opportunity.”
