Third Year Of Successs at New College Swindon Higher Creative Fair

On 11th September, New College Swindon proudly hosted a Creative Higher Education Fair exclusively for its Creative students. Over 120 students from Level 2 and Level 3 Vocational and A Level art-based courses, including Photography, Art and Design, Graphics, Dance, Media Makeup, Textiles, Digital Music Production, Music, and Performing Arts, attended the Creative Fair. The event offered students an invaluable opportunity to explore a wide range of higher education pathways, gain expert advice on various creative disciplines, and engage with representatives from some of the UK’s most prestigious universities and creative institutions.


Universities in attendance included the University of the Arts London (UAL), Falmouth University, University of Gloucestershire, Arts University Plymouth, Arts University Bournemouth, Boom Satsuma, Solent University, University of South Wales, BIMM Institute, as well as representatives from New College’s own Creative HE courses.


This is the third year that the specialised fair, organised by Level 3 Photography Course Leader Clare Ashley, has taken place. Initially, the fair was designed to give students from underprivileged areas of Swindon the chance to meet representatives from a wide range of universities at no cost. It also provided students with an students with an unbiased overview of higher education options, helping them realise that university centre courses at New College Swindon are a great option alongside universities for those that prefer to stay local.”unbiased overview of higher education options, helping them realise that university could be an option for more people than they might have thought before. Since then, it has grown into something even more impactful, offering personalised advice to students on their next steps after A Levels or Vocational studies. The fair brings leading universities directly to the students, helping them explore how they can apply the skills they’ve developed to exciting and diverse careers in the creative industries.

Evelyn Long, Level 3 Vocational Photography Student said “I found the event really interesting. It gave me a greater idea about what direction I could go into as a photographer when I finish my course. There were also talks to help explain the application process, including guidance on finances, creating portfolios, and preparing for interviews.”
