On Monday, 2nd March 2026, New College Swindon Dance students competed against 18 schools and colleges in the region at The Great Big Dance Off. Hosted at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre, NCS students performed two routines, one of which, named Unity, was choreographed by an alumnus, Aman Shreesh.
The Great Big Dance Off is a national dance competition open to schools and colleges in England and Wales. Some of the other competitors included Abbey Park School, Commonweal and King Alfred’s Oxford High School. Out of the 18 competing teams, New College Swindon came 4th for their dance named ‘Unity’ and 7th for their dance called ‘Black Cat’.
We are extremely proud of our students for their hard work in this competition. The routine ‘Unity’ was learned in three lessons, with a total of 6-8 hours of practice.
Dance Lecturer, Jodie Kerslake, said: “We are incredibly proud of our New College Dance Company students for their outstanding performance at The Great Big Dance Off. Achieving 4th place in such a competitive field is a testament to their dedication, passion, and teamwork. Our students have shown not only exceptional talent but also resilience and commitment throughout their journey. This experience will inspire them to continue pushing their boundaries and strive for excellence in all they do.”
