Launch of Swindon & Wiltshire Innovative Technology Care Hub (SWITCH)

We are delighted to launch the Swindon & Wiltshire Innovative Technology Care Hub (SWITCH) which is a collaboration between New College Swindon and Wiltshire College to enhance and upskill care staff across Swindon, Wiltshire and beyond.

SWITCH will accelerate skills development in health, care and life science through technical innovation and aims to upskill the workforce by embedding reality technology to offer unparalleled simulation activities across a broad provision. SWITCH will:

Offer flexible modular delivery supplemented with immersive technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality, where learners ‘learn by doing’ rather than by simply watching
Develop best practice, creative thinking and innovative ideas to help businesses in our region remain at the vanguard of new technology.
Develop a variety of face-to-face, virtual and blended learning strategies and courses which flexibly and responsively meet the training and skills development needs identified within the health and social care arena.
Invest in immersive technology and environments to enable learners to experience risk-free scenarios, from accident management to clinical procedures, as well as providing a greater understanding of conditions such as diabetes and other long term conditions.

We will have hubs within both New College Swindon and Wiltshire College and University Centre.
