Former student wins top accolade at UK Hair and Beauty Awards

Former New College Swindon, Beauty Therapy student, wins national award recognising her first class standard of beauty treatments.

Elena Cocca, Owner of Impact Beauty, scooped the top prize in the category ‘Best for Brows’ at this year’s UK HBA (Hair and Beauty Awards) event.

The award ceremony was held virtually due to the current Covid 19 restrictions and to ensure everybody’s safety during this event.

Elena said: “When I found out that I had won, I dropped to the floor in tears! I did not imagine that I would be chosen from all the entries in the UK.

"Knowing the stiff competition I was up against, being announced the winner was amazing and made me realise that my hard work and dedication had paid off, and my long time commitment had been recognised, which was the best feeling."

Elena opened her own salon in October 2020 at a tough time when restrictions were in place and the first lockdown had only just been lifted. This was very overwhelming for Elena because she says no one knew how long the global pandemic would last or how severe it would affect people’s lives.

However, she always knew that she was destined for a career in the beauty industry because she loves the satisfaction of giving clients a great feeling after their treatments. It was in 2012 when Elena began her journey to become a specialist in brow treatments when she enrolled on a course – ever since then she knew it was her calling.

Elena added: “I’m grateful that I can do this job because it gives people confidence and when I get to see my client's reaction to seeing themselves transformed, it makes my job worthwhile.

“Never ever stop working hard for something you’re passionate about and believe in.”
