New College Swindon is proud to highlight the achievements of Ellie Clark, a dedicated apprentice making waves in the plumbing and heating industry.
Ellie Clarke is currently undertaking a Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician apprenticeship while working with B&G Jenkins, a respected local company in Swindon with a legacy dating back to 1967. Known for their high standards and fully qualified Gas Safe and OFTEC registered engineers, B&G Jenkins has provided Ellie with a strong foundation to develop her skills.
When asked why she chose New College Swindon, Ellie explained, “It was the closest college offering the programme I was interested in. It made sense to study somewhere accessible that also had a great reputation.”
Ellie’s enthusiasm for her course is clear. “I enjoy learning about all aspects of the subject. Visiting the training centre to work on boilers has been especially valuable. The lecturers are very knowledgeable, and I’ve learnt a lot. The course is very good.”
Support has played a key role in Ellie’s success. “I receive extra time and work in a smaller room, which helps me focus. My lecturer is always available to answer questions—he’s a great support. I also learn a lot from the engineers I work with, each of whom brings different knowledge and experience.”
Plans for a Piping-Hot Future
Looking ahead, Ellie has ambitious plans. “I want to become a fully qualified gas engineer and hopefully stay with B&G Jenkins. I’m aiming to upgrade my skills, earn my oil qualification, and be able to install underfloor heating. I also really enjoy the breakdown side of the job—troubleshooting problems with boilers and equipment is something I find really rewarding.”
Ellie’s story is a testament to the power of hands-on learning, strong mentorship, and the value of local opportunities. We’re excited to see where her journey takes her next.
