National Apprenticeship Week
National Apprenticeships Week
In order to celebrate, New College Swindon ran the following campaigns and initiatives.
We ran a fantastic campaign for employers - 28 Apprentices in 28 days!
Between Monday 13th January and Monday 10th February, our aim was to get 28 Apprenticeship vacancies identified with employers.
Most employers will be aware of the benefits of employing an Apprentice, but here's a reminder of how it can help:
- The development of a well-trained, well-motivated workforce
- Increased productivity through better trained staff
- Improved company performance with measurable impact
- Demonstrates your commitment to staff development
- Helps you use your Apprenticeship levy or helps you access government funding
If you want to come on board and employ an apprentice, just email email@example.com.
As a part of our activity for National Apprenticeship Week 2020, we recognised and celebrated how well Apprentices are doing.
This year, we launched our brand new New College Apprenticeships Awards. Nominations were open to employers and assessors that work with New College. There were three categories, including: best overall contribution to an organisation, outstanding achievement in a project/task and assessors' choice learning award.
One winner for each category will be picked by a panel of staff at New College and announced on Thursday of National Apprenticeship Week. Each winner will receive an Amazon voucher of £100!
There was themed coverage across the New College Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts throughout National Apprenticeship Week.
Coverage included case studies, a myth-buster giveaway on Instagram, where there was a chance to win a £25 Amazon voucher, as well as a Q&A session on Instagram with Apprenticeships Manager, Sharon Jones.
There was also a display in the New College foyer with Apprentice case studies, facts, myths, advice and benefits. Our Apprenticeships Team were also at Swindon Job Fest at the STEAM Museum on 4th Feb answering Apprenticeship related questions.
Open Evening and Apprenticeships Fair
The Open Evening and Apprenticeships Fair took place at New College on Wednesday 29th January. The evening gave attendees the chance to find out more about the vast choice of courses on offer and also talk to employers who are seeking Apprentices. These included: UKSBS; Ashgrove House Nursing Home; First City Nursing; Recycling Technologies; Devere Hotel; Poplars Day nursery; Nationwide; National Trust and more!
As a training provider, our Apprenticeship programmes have been developed to provide a structured progression route for developing talent within an organisation. The College offers dedicated account management, a thorough training needs analysis, help with advertising vacancies and complete support throughout the apprenticeship programme. The team also assist employers in the completion of any paperwork and funding applications and also pre-screen and short list candidates based on specifications provided by employers.
