About the course

A Supported Internship is a programme designed to support young people who have an Education, Health and Care Plan to gain paid employment. Students on this programme will be supported by a Job Coach who will work with them to identify their strengths and the type of work they would like to move into. The Job Coach will then work with employers to find an appropriate placement for the student, with the aim of a paid position at the end of the programme. The majority of the time on this programme students will be in a work placement. Where appropriate they may do additional maths and English studies in college. Please note students must have an Education, Health and Care plan to undertake a Supported Internship.

Students will need to have a keen desire to enter the world of work as well as having an Education, Health and Care Plan to access this programme.

Work experience and employability

On this programme students will spend the vast majority of their time in a work placement. They will be supported by a Job Coach in and out of the workplace. The Job Coach will ensure that students get the right help and support so succeed and thrive in the workplace. The aim of this programme is to support students into paid work at the end of their course. This is a steppingstone into work and the time spent on this programme will be like having a real job.
