Guitar for Beginners

About the course

This course is for complete beginners. It is designed to give you all the essential skills to start making music with your guitar. You will learn how to tune your guitar, become familiar with the instrument and the descriptive terminology that will be used throughout the course. You will learn a variety of common chords which can be applied to a wide range of songs across many different genres of music. You will study techniques which will help you to correctly finger chords, change chords smoothly and avoid bad habits, which can be difficult to correct. You will develop an understanding of rhythm and learn rhythmic patterns that can be applied to music. By the end of the course you should be able to play chords and apply elements of rhythm learned to a wide range of songs. This course does not include reading music – you will be shown chord diagrams and guitar tablature which will enable you to continue learning independently.
