About the course
Geography GCSE will allow you the opportunity to develop your communication skills as well as your graphical, cartographical and ICT skills. You will be able to improve your interpersonal skills through debate and discussion as well as your problem solving skills in the coursework element.
You will study the following: Living with the Physical Environment; Challenges in the human environment Geographical Applications
Grade 3/D in English language (and be re-sitting English at college) and preferably a grade 3 or GCSE grade D in Maths. Previous study of Geography is not necessary.
The course will provide you with a clear overall view of the world in the first part of the 21st century.
Geography combines well with any GCSEs and will give you a solid foundation for progress to an A Level programme, which could contain Geography or any other A Level subjects.
Work experience and employability
This course does not contain a specific work experience component, but has other activities to help you develop employability skills. If you would like to undertake a work placement alongside your studies our Employability Team can help.
What additional resources will I need?
You will be expected to supply your own stationery and you may want to purchase a textbook. You may also be asked to contribute to any courses and visits in which you take part.
This course is free to students aged 16-18.
Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact the Fees Co-Ordinator at Queens Drive.
