About the course
You will work to develop your speaking, reading and writing skills in English and brush up on the essential foundations of English such as spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Course content includes: Group discussion and presentation skills; Formal/informal letters, e-mails, reports, articles, speeches and reviews.
Grade 1 in GCSE English, or no qualifications in English at all. You will do a short assessment at the beginning of the course to help decide what level you are going to aim for.
Many students also go on to take GCSE English the following year.
Work experience and employability
This course does not contain a specific work experience component, but has other activities to help you develop employability skills. If you would like to undertake a work placement alongside your studies, our Employability Team can help.
What additional resources will I need?
You will need to bring your own stationery.
This course is free to students aged 16-18.
Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact the Fees Co-Ordinator at Queens Drive.
