About the course
This course is for anyone who does not currently hold an English GCSE Grade 4/C and would like to improve or update their skills. It is also suitable for those for whom English is not their first language.
Functional Skills are nationally recognised qualifications that provide learners with useful and transferable skills in English across five different levels. These qualifications support progression into employment or further education.
During the course, you will work on your Reading, Writing and Communication skills in a friendly and supportive environment. At higher levels, you will brush up on grammar, punctuation, spelling, reading and writing for different purposes and audiences. You will be encouraged to use computers to research and present your work. The course will also cover speaking and listening skills.
At the end of your course, you will sit your Functional Skills exams/assessments and be presented with a certificate from the awarding body.
As course assessments and final exams are held in-house at our Adult Learning Centre, Swindon it is necessary that participants ensure they are able to commit to attending our Centre when required.
