About the Course
Offering exciting opportunities in the engineering industry, this course gives you the chance to gain valuable skills and knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of engineering practices and processes in our industry standard facilities.
Whether you’re an adult, or are a school-leaver, this diploma course will help you follow your dream to become a full-time engineer. A variety of job opportunities are open to you and these include maintenance engineer, mechanical engineer, railway engineer, welder and/or fabricator, and electrical and/or electronic engineer.
You’ll be required to complete two mandatory units – the understanding of engineering and environmental health and safety, and then, a choice from the following: mechanical engineering technology, maintenance engineering technology, welding technology, or electrical and electronics technology. You will also have timetabled sessions in English and Maths, work experience and enrichment as part of your programme.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English, Maths and preferably Science or equivalent.
Where next?
HNC Mechanical Engineering and/or employment or an Apprenticeship.
Work Experience and Employability
Work experience can be arranged through the College as part of your qualification.
What additional resources will I need?
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided including safety boots and a hi viz waistcoat. You would be expected to equip yourself with stationary.
Fees information
This course is free to students aged 16-18.
Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact the Fees Co-Ordinator at Queens Drive.
