About the course

This course is diverse, vibrant and exciting. Whether you want to be a dancer, choreographer, teacher, dance therapist, fitness instructor or dance journalist, it enables you to develop your talent, gain knowledge and bring depth to your range of performance and choreographic skills.

The course demands a substantial commitment and determination to succeed; you will be expected to use your initiative, dedicate time for extra rehearsals and be committed to teamwork.

We offer many CV boosting opportunities such as; performance experience in our 2 annual Dance Shows, workshops with internationally renowned dance artists and exciting trips and residencies.

Course content includes (but not limited to): Dance Technique & Dance Performance; Contemporary Dance; Jazz; Ballet; Urban; Performing to an Audience; Choreographic Principles

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including English and Maths), or a Level 2 at Merit (plus audition).

Where next?

This course is recognised by universities, conservatoires and dance studios and will gain you valuable UCAS points, allowing you to study in Higher Education. The course could also lead you directly into the Dance industry as you certainly get the know-how and experience to make a valuable member of a professional company.

Work experience and employability

This course does not contain a specific work experience component, but has other activities to help you develop employability skills. If you would like to undertake a work placement alongside your studies, our Employability Team can help.

What additional resources will I need?

You will need to have practical dance clothing including tracksuit/leggings and t-shirts, leotard, tights & ballet shoes; you may also find kneepads come in handy. An MP3 is also very useful. There is a £20 workshop fee to contribute to our extensive programme

Fees information

This course is free to students aged 16-18.

Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact the Fees Co-Ordinator at Queens Drive.
