About the course
Length: Approximately 45 hours
Campus: The Adult Learning Centre, Focal Point
This computing course is aimed at absolute beginners. No previous experience is required as you will be covering the basics. Work is assessed throughout the course and so there are no final tests or exams.
Course study is based around awarding body approved materials (workbooks) and practice activities.
The main topics covered in this course included an introduction to word processing, using the internet and working with email.

The Basics of word processing
Editing text
Formatting text
Adding pictures
Unit B - Using the Internet
Searching for information
Working with information
Unit C - Email using Outlook
Opening messages
Sending email
Receiving email
Approximately 45 hours to complete the course, including learning and practice and this is delivered through taught classroom sessions.
At least 5 hours’ study per week is expected. Dates and times for study will be confirmed at your induction.
Assessment is through successful completion of tasks.

You will be required to complete an initial assessment prior to commencing this qualification
Where next?
After completing this course there is a progression path to the ITQ level 1 Award, Certificate, or specific level 1 ITQ units.
