About the Course
This course will suit you if you wish to embark on a career within the Plumbing and Heating sector. The qualification covers the basic fundamental practical skills and knowledge required by someone aspiring to be a Plumber. It covers a range of subjects including: safe working practice, environment and sustainability, working in the construction industry, drainage, copper, plastic and steel pipework, plumbing systems and plumbing science. The course will enable you to develop craft and hand-skills before progressing into further learning within Plumbing. All of the units develop your practical skills and enable you to demonstrate your ability to complete common tasks within the industry.
Assessment comprises of an assignment for each unit of study.
During your course of study, you will be involved in demonstrations, practical work, theory lessons, computer sessions, tutorials, and project work. You will also have timetabled sessions in English, Maths, work experience and Enrichment as part of your Study Programme.
Four GCSEs at grade 2 or above including Maths and English.
On successfully passing the course you can progress to study at Level 2 or gain an apprenticeship.
Work Experience and Employability
As part of the overall Study Programme you will complete 30 hours of work experience.
What additional resources will I need?
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided including safety boots and a hi viz waistcoat. You would be expected to equip yourself with stationary.
This course is free to students aged 16-18.
Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact the Fees Co-Ordinator at Queens Drive.
