About the Course

This course is open to anyone who wishes to gain employment in the Construction Industry and achieve a nationally recognised qualification in Plumbing. This programme will give you the training and skills required to enter the industry. The course is split between theory and practical sessions.

The course delivery will include: Demonstrations, Practical workshops, Theory, Assignments, Learning packs, Project work and self-study.

Areas of work and knowledge covered often include:

  • Health & Safety in the Building Industry
  • Electrical Principles and Processes for Building Services Engineering
  • Scientific Principles
  • Common Plumbing Processes
  • Cold Water Systems
  • Domestic Hot Water Systems
  • Sanitation
  • Central Heating Systems
  • Drainage Systems
  • Understanding how to communicate with others within Building Services Engineering.

You will also have timetabled sessions in English and Maths, work experience and enrichment as part of your programme.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths.

Where next?

If you are offered a work placement then you can continue at College on an Apprenticeship programme. You may also be able to stay on at College and achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing.

Work Experience and Employability

Work experience can be arranged through the College as part of your qualification.

What additional resources will I need?

All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided including safety boots and a hi viz waistcoat. You would be expected to equip yourself with stationary.

Fees information

This course is free to students aged 16-18.

Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact the Fees Co-Ordinator at Queens Drive.
