About the course

This is a standalone qualification and is for students who work with assessment practices and need to know more. This qualification does not allow you to assess students in the classroom or workplace. It is ideal for those who are starting their journey as an assessor (or think that this might be the way forwards) or for those who need to know about assessment practice but who are not currently practicing e.g. a starting point for aspiring assessors or a professional development qualification for managers, HR or quality assurance personnel.

This programme can start at any point through the year and is based on a 1 to 1 coaching model. This is a 3 credit knowledge only unit and can be a standalone qualification. The aim of this unit is to assess the “trainee assessors” knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices that underpin assessment.

Assessment is through assignment, case studies and questions.

Entry requirements

  • Specialist occupational competence to a minimum of level 3 or above (A level)
  • Literacy, numeracy and ICT at level 2 or equivalent are an advantage.
  • You will need to complete a C&G skills scan as part of the induction process.

Work experience and employability

You do not need to be working in order to achieve this unit it is a standalone knowledge unit.

What additional resources will I need?

Recommended reading which can be accessed via the college library or VLE, access to a computer is essential.
