This is ideal for anyone embarking on a career in people practice, or for those already in a support role and looking to take the next step on the ladder.

The CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice is a professional qualification based on the 2018 CIPD Profession Map, developed in conjunction with a range of experts working at the centre of HR. The qualification provides a strong foundation giving you confidence and capabilities regarding their decision-making, actions and behaviours.

Course content

You’ll study 4 core units:

  • Business, culture and change in context

  • Principles of analytics

  • Core behaviours for people professionals

  • Essentials of people practice

You will complete assignments which are assessed internally; there are no exams.

Entry requirements

You must have Level 2 Functional Skills English or GCSE grade C/4 and above.

You must be working within a HR role, or, within the business and administration sector and have full support from your organisation.

Where next?

Once you have been able to put into practice the skills gained during this course, you can progress to the Associate Diploma in People Management Level 5.


On successful completion, you will be eligible for Foundation Membership of the CIPD and can use the designation Foundation CIPD.

This qualification will help you to gain/progress your employment within a HR environment as a HR Administrator/Assistant/Advisor.
