Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship (Level 2)


For individuals wanting a career in Construction. There are two pathway options, a Site Carpenter, normally based on a building site or in a domestic/commercial premises carrying out fixing and building, installation of fittings, repair and maintenance, or a Bench Joiner employed in a workshop producing timber based building components. Apprentices will achieve a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations as part of their programme.

Entry Requirements

Apprentices must be employed within a relevant job role to undertake the programme. Employers will set entry criteria for their apprenticeship vacancies. If you do not already hold a minimum GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or equivalent you will be required to study functional skills in these areas as part of your apprenticeship.

Assessment/Exam Information

Apprentices will be required to undertake an End Point Assessment which will consist of a Knowledge Test and Practical Skills Assessment.

Progression on to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery.
