This A Level is included within the following A Level pathways as a RECOMMENDED CORE subject: Business and Entrepreneurship; Financial Academy and in the following pathways as a RECOMMENDED ADDITIONAL SUBJECT: Creative Arts; Design and Media; Engineering; Law and Legal. However, you can choose Business with any A Level/equivalent combination, there is plenty of choice and flexibility.
You will study four themes throughout the course, which cover a number of crucial business-related areas. These include: Marketing and Human Resources; Financial Management and Business Accounting; Business Decisions & Business Strategy models and International Business, which will be an investigation into the economic aspects of the EU and Euro.
You will study the course for 4.5 hours a week in the first year and 5 hours a week in the second year. You should expect to spend an additional 4.5 hours per week on homework and private study. Mock exams are held during the first year (in February/March), but do not count towards the final A Level. Exams for the whole A level are held in May or June of the second year.
Entry requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including grade 4/C in both English Language and Maths.
Future career and study opportunities
A Level Business is a very valuable qualification if you wish to continue studying at a higher level, or if you are thinking of a career in marketing, accounting, banking, finance, human resources, retail management or general administration.
