This fully online level 2 course is designed to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact. The need for education and training across sectors to enable identification of abuse, allocation of support and referral is a recurring theme within regional domestic abuse strategies. Awareness of domestic abuse and its impact is important for those working in a wide range of sectors such as healthcare, social care, childcare, education, and housing. There is a need to understand the issues, report on those who may be at risk and support signposting to relevant services. This qualification is intended to give learners knowledge to support their role in this context by increasing their awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact and to support those in the workplace who may work with, support, or interact with people at risk of, or experiencing, domestic abuse.
Unit 1 Understand Domestic Abuse: In this unit, you will gain knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse, prevalence, misconceptions, and national strategy.
Unit 2 Understand the Signs and Risk Factors Associated with Domestic Abuse: In this unit, you will gain knowledge and understanding of signs and risk factors of domestic abuse and issues around disclosure and reporting.
Unit 3 Understand the Impact of Domestic Abuse: Here, you will gain knowledge and understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on children, family members, support service providers and society
Unit 4 Understand Policy, Response and Intervention in Relation to Domestic Abuse: In this unit, the learner will gain knowledge and understanding of legislation and policy, multi-agency working, intervention and sources of support and information in relation to domestic abuse.
You will work through each unit and then complete an assessment; this is a series of questions on the material you have just covered. Your Assessor will provide feedback and guidance on any additional work needed. On passing all 4 units, you will receive a Certificate NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Domestic Abuse.
Entry requirements
You need to be comfortable with using IT and navigating websites as the course is delivered via a learning platform. You will need to have a Level 2 in English or be studying towards this to get the most from the content and enable completion of the assessments with an understanding of Command Verbs.
Work experience/Careers Extra
No work experience is included in this course, however, if you are not using this course for the workplace we would suggest volunteering with charities or support groups as the skills from this couse could help in promoting positive outcomes for families.
Additional resources/costs
You will need access to a laptop or PC fo study, although some learners manage on a tablet, but this depends on the screen size and ability to open and save documents.
Fees Information
This course is free of charge for those aged over 19 (on 31st August) who meet the residency requirements;
you usually must have lived within the UK for at least 3 years and live in England; however, some postcode
exclusions apply - please enquire for confirmation of eligibility. In addition to this, please note that you cannot be currently enrolled on an apprenticeship. A £125 cancellation fee may apply if you enrol and do not complete, or withdraw, from the course. This fee is to cover administration costs.
