This course is suitable if you have interest in the motor industry and are keen to learn about maintenance of light vehicles. You will develop a wide range of automotive-related skills, through hands-on, practical training.
Areas you will study include: Health and Safety, Mechanical, Ligh Vehicle, Electrical, Valeting and Personal Social Development.
You will develop craft and hand-skills, which you will then be able to apply in the workplace.
Througnout the course you will be involved in demonstrations, practical work, theory lessons, computer sessions, tutorials, and project work.
You will also have timetabled sessions in English, maths, work experience and enrichment as part of your study programme.
This course is assessed via an on-screen examination, assignments and observed assessments.
Entry requirements
You will need four GCSEs at grade 2/E or above (or equivalent) and a keen interest in the automotive industry.
Future career and study opportunities
On completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 course or an apprenticeship – and ultimately into a successful career in this exciting industry.
Work experience/Careers Extra
As part of your study programme, you will complete 30 hours of work experience. Our employability team will help support this and it will ensure that you gain valuable experience of the workplace.
Additional resources/costs
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided including safety boots, trousers and polo shirt. You will need to provide your own stationery.
