Every application is considered on its own merits, but generally music reading (i.e. treble and bass clef), theoretical knowledge and performance equivalent to Grade 2 standard are required.
If you are interested in studying GCSE Music, please do talk to a member of staff to help assess your position and we can provide advice on the best way forward for you.
GCSE Music gives you a solid grounding for studying at higher level – enabling you to progress onto A Levels or another Level 3 course. However, it is also a great and enjoyable course in its own right. All instruments are accepted and your performance can be in any style of music you choose.
This course does not contain a specific work experience component but many of the skills you will learn are essential to employability.
If needed, our Employability Team can help you find local work placements that will support the course.
You will be expected to supply your own stationery and you may want to purchase a textbook. You may also need to contribute to any courses and visits you take part in, but costs are kept to a minimum.
