This course is for those who do not currently hold a Grade 4/C in GCSE Mathematics and can demonstrate that they have the underpinning knowledge to complete a Level 2 course.
You will need a scientific calculator, preferably a Casio FX 83 (which are widely available). You will also need a black pen, pencil ruler, protractor and a compass.
Achieving a Grade 4 or above in GCSE Mathematics will allow you to:
Progress onto Level 2 or Level 3 courses at college
Study courses that require a maths qualification (e.g. Science, Engineering, Business)
Apply for apprenticeships
Improve your employment opportunities
Career progression or career change.
This course is free to students aged 16-18 and those who do not have a Level 4/C in Maths. Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available.
