Creative & Performing Arts (Dance) Extended Diploma

Creative & Performing Arts (Dance) Extended Diploma

This programme has been designed to equip learners with the dance skills, knowledge and practical experience for progression to higher education and entry to employment within the industry. At New College we offer practical, structured learning with the flexibility to specialize and study in different genres such as, Commercial, Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary dance.

Throughout this programme, you will have the opportunity to perform in several live performances and as part of our Enrichment, you will work as a company participating in live performances and competitions, and attend workshops led by industry professionals. This will provide the underlying performance skills essential for the industry.

Technology is becoming crucial in the dance world, we offer modules in Planning a Career in the Creative and Performing arts which incorporate learning on CVs, showreels and safe and effective use of social media. This ensures that our content is relevant in an ever-changing world of developing technology.

With experience, we have determined our underlying philosophy is that learners should receive credit for achievement and that everyone should be encouraged to reach their full potential in all aspects of the course. All the RSL Level 3 qualification options we provide, do exactly that! As a department we aim to find exciting and engaging ways to assess individuals and provide a learning experience that is relevant in an emerging and evolving industry.

Examples of workshops and activities undertaken just this year include Paul Liburd workshop (Rambert Dance Faculty), Marcellus Hill (The Hunger Games On Stage & Hairspray UK Tour) and residential trip to London to see Paddington the Musical, take part in dance workshops and visit the ‘Move It’ Dance Convention.
