Animal Management T Level Level 3

If you are dedicated to the care of animals and are keen to pursue a career in the sector, then this is the course for you. You will get exciting, hands-on experience of working with a variety of animals and meeting their needs - including health checking and handling them. You will also learn more about animal biology, welfare and behaviour.

Our college has outstanding facilities for animals, giving you the opportunity to work with them every day. We have a growing collection that includes small and large mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, birds and fish. In September 2023 our new £2m Animal Management Centre will open, which has animal habitats and spaces for practical demonstrations.

This two-year qualification will enable you to develop an understanding of a wide range of relevant content in the sector, including:

• Animal husbandry

• Animal anatomy and physiology

• Nutrition and diet formulation

• Ethical principles

• Welfare legislation

• Employability skills and progression opportunities within the sector

• Sustainability, including sustainable development and waste management principles

• Health and safety when working with animals, including biosecurity.

This T level is a new qualification that has been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses, to ensure that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work or higher education.

This course will be assessed through;

• 2 Core Exams

• 1 Employer Set Project which will include a number of timed tasks that relate to an employment scenario including planning, presenting and reviewing own performance

• 1 Occupational Specialism Project which will be similar to the Employer Set Project but the content will be specific to animal management (parts will be like a practical exam with staff observing students practical skills).
