Mathematics GCSE (Queens Drive)

We offer a range of maths courses to suit people with different requirements and abilities. These maths courses have proven to be highly successful, supporting you to secure the grade you are aiming for.

The options are:

  • GCSE Foundation (one year): This course is for students who already have a Grade 2 or 3 at GCSE, or a pass at Functional Skills Level 1. It will help prepare you to re-take the exam, with three hours in class every week over 30 weeks. You will also have access to an out of class ‘e study’ package for revision and further support.

  • GCSE Foundation (Adults 19+): This has the same content as the one-year course (above) but is for adults aged 19+. You will have three hours teaching each week, but with additional self-managed independent revision.

  • GCSE Higher (20 weeks) This course is available for full time students who have already achieved a Grade 4 in maths but wish to gain a higher grade to complement UCAS applications. Places on this course are via teacher recommendation only.

Entry requirements

The foundation one year course is for students with a GCSE maths pass at grade 2 or grade 3 OR a pass at Functional Skills Level 1.

Additional resources/costs

You will need a scientific calculator, preferably a Casio FX 83 (which are widely available). You will also need a black pen, pencil ruler, protractor and a compass.

Future career and study opportunities

GCSE Maths is an extremely important qualification. It is essential requirement for employers and by universities for Higher Education courses. If you do not have GCSE Maths at grade 4/C, we highly recommend that you aim to improve your skills - ensuring you are able to progress successfully into higher education and/or employment.

Fees Information

This course is free to students aged 16-18. Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission.
