Geography GCSE

Geography GCSE is an interesting subject, which will help develop your communication skills as well as your map reading, graphical and ICT skills. This course involves lots of debate and discussion, as well as problem solving and practical work.

You will study a range of relevant topics including: Living with the Physical Environment; Challenges in the Human Environment and Geographical Applications.

This course will provide you with a clear view of the world we live in and the challenges it faces.

Entry requirements

A GCSE at grade 3/D in English Language (and be re-sitting English at College) and preferably a grade 3/D in Maths. Previous study of Geography is not necessary, but you must have a keen interest in the subject.

Future career and study opportunities

Geography combines well with any set of GCSEs. It will give you a solid foundation to progress onto an A Level programme, which could include Geography or any other A Level subject.

Work experience/Careers Extra

This course does not contain a specific work experience component but many of the skills you will learn are essential to employability. If needed, our Employability Team can help you find local work placements that will support the course.

Additional resources/costs

You will be expected to supply your own stationery and you may want to purchase a textbook. You may also need to contribute to any courses and visits you take part in, but costs are kept to a minimum.
