Further Maths AS Level
This AS Further Maths course runs in parallel with the A Level Maths. It introduces a range of new topics such as complex numbers, matrices, three-dimensional geometry and hyperbolic functions.
Like A Level Maths, the content of the AS Further Maths course includes a pure section and an applied section (consisting of statistics and mechanics). Further Maths is valued highly by many top universities and is particularly helpful for degrees in mathematics, physics, engineering and computer science.
You will be taking AS Further Maths as your fourth subject. Due to the demanding nature of this course, you should plan on spending a significant amount of time on homework and private study, making full use of the extensive resources available.
All lesson material is available electronically enabling you to have access at any time and from any place. There is extensive material available online from the MEI Integral Maths website and the Cambridge Go online textbooks. There are additional classes for support and you can contact your lecturers via Teams and email.
Exams for the AS Further Maths are held in May / June. If you do well, there will be the possibility of extending the course to do the full A level in Further Maths in your second year.
