You should have already achieved a minimum of Level 1 in English and be working towards or at Level 2, to get the most from the content and enable completion of the assessments. You will be required to take an initial online assessment before the course starts to check your level and to ensure this course is right for you.
No work experience is included in this course, however if you are not using this course for the workplace. we would suggest the possibility of volunteering with education establishments such as school or colleges, charities or your local library, as the skills from this course could help in promoting developing English skills for adults and children.
You need access to a laptop or PC for study, although some learners manage on a tablet, but this depends on the screen size and the ability open and save documents.
Further online courses at Level 2 are available in Functional Skills Mathematics, or a variety of courses to support working in Business, Health and Childcare.
This course is free of charge for those aged over 19 (on 31st August) who meet the residency requirements; you usually must have lived within the UK for at least 3 years and live in England, local to Swindon; however, some postcode exclusions apply - please enquire for confirmation of eligibility. In addition to this, please note that you cannot be currently enrolled on an apprenticeship.
