Engineering Technologies (Engineering) Level 2 Diploma

This exciting course will equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding you need to progress a career in the engineering sector. Whether you are a school leaver or an adult wanting a career change, you will benefit from our industry-standard facilities and supportive expert tutors.

You will gain a comprehensive understanding of engineering practices and processes. Mandatory units include the understanding of engineering and health and safety. You will then have a choice of topics to study, including mechanical engineering technology, maintenance engineering technology, welding technology, or electrical and electronics technology.

In addition, you will have timetabled sessions in English and maths, work experience and enrichment as part of your programme.

Entry requirements

You will need four GCSEs at grade 3/D or above, including English, maths and preferably science (or equivalent).

Future career and study opportunities

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto a Level 3 Engineering programme. Alternatively, you may want to move straight into employment or onto an Apprenticeship.

Many job roles are available including: a maintenance engineer, mechanical engineer, railway engineer, welder and/or fabricator, and electrical and/or electronic engineer.

Work experience/Careers Extra

This course does not contain a specific work experience component but many of the skills you will learn are essential to employability. If needed, our Employability Team can help you find local work placements that will support the course.

Additional resources/costs

All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided including safety boots and overalls. You would need to supply your own stationery.
