This course is for people who want a career in the Electrical sector. It covers the many practical skills and knowledge you will need to become an Electrician including: safe working practice, environment and sustainability, the construction industry, wiring and terminations and Electrical science & technology.
You will learn the craft and hand skills required to complete common tasks in the industry and progress you career in this exciting sector.
Each unit of study will be assessed via an assignment. Throughout the course, you will be involved in demonstrations, practical work, theory lessons, computer sessions, tutorials, and project work. You will also have timetabled sessions in English, maths, and enrichment as part of your study programme, together with work experience.
Entry requirements
You will need four GCSEs at grade 3/D or above including maths and English, as well as a keen interest in Electrical Installation.
Future career and study opportunities
On successful completion of this course you will be able to progress onto Level 2 Electrical Installation. Alternatively, you could move into an apprenticeship and further develop your plumbing skills and knowledge ‘on the job’.
Additional resources/costs
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided including safety boots and a hi-vis waistcoat. You will need to supply your own stationery.
