This is an introduction to teaching, delivered on a part-time basis, which can help you decide if teaching is the career for you. While it does not qualify you to teach, this qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers in further education and skills sectors, including:
There are 30 contact hours (face-to-face teaching). There will be approximately two or three hours of self-study per week, during which time you will need to complete assignments. The course fee includes face-to-face tuition, assessment, registration and certification fee. If you are already teaching/training and can evidence 30 hours of teaching over the course duration, then you may wish to consider the Certificate in Education and Training.
Assessment is via a portfolio of evidence. This will include assignments for each of the three units, a micro teach session, session plan, evaluations and observation record. Please note that micro-teach sessions will be videoed as part of the end assessment process.
Entry requirements
You will need specialist occupational competence to a minimum of Level 3 or above (A level standard) You will also need good communication and writing skills, with digital skills being an added advantage.
You must be over 19. Enrolment will be subject to a successful interview and initial assessment.
Additional resources/costs
You will need access to a computer and provide your own stationery.
Fees Information
This course is free to students aged 16-18. Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission.
