Digital Production, Design & Development T Level

T Levels are brand new, two-year courses offering an alternative route to A Levels and apprenticeships. They are developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure that the content meets the needs of industry and fully prepares you for the world of work.

The Digital Production Design and Development T Level combines classroom theory, practical learning and a compulsory 315-hour (nine week) work placement, ensuring you get experience in a real workplace.

The programme covers many interesting areas including: Computational Thinking, Programming, Legislation and regulatory requirements, Understanding business environments, Creation and use of data (including AI), Digital Environments and Security.

T Levels are assessed via two examinations and an employer set project. The qualification is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 5/C or above (including English Language, Science & Maths). You also need a strong interest in Computing and IT.

Future career and study opportunities

Successfully completing this digital T-Level will enable you to progress onto a degree apprenticeship or into Higher Education to study a technical subject such as computer science, cyber security or networking.

Alternatively, you may wish to move directly into employment. There will be a number of roles open to you including: Software Development Technician; Junior Developer; Web Developer; Mobile App Developer; Programmer; Automated Test Developer; and Application Support Analyst.

Work experience/Careers Extra

This programme includes a compulsory 315-hour industry placement, which must be completed successfully to achieve the qualification.

You will be required to source your work placement, with support from our Employability Team.

Additional resources/costs

You will need to purchase a textbook and cover the cost of any course-related trips you may wish to attend.

You will also need to pay for transport costs to/from your industry placement.
