Computing for Improving Digital Skills Level 2 ICDL Award in IT User Skills

  • This level 2 Award is designed for students who are progressing from the level 1 Award or Certificate in IT Users Skills or those looking to demonstrate their knowledge of office applications. The qualification includes units from Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Presentations, all at level 2.

  • Course study is based around awarding body approved materials (workbooks) and supported by online diagnostics and sample tests.

  • Each unit attracts a number of credits which should total between 16 & 20 in order to be awarded the certificate. It is however possible to substitute some of the level 2 units with those at level 1 & 3 in order to make up the total number of credits required. This can be discussed with your tutor during induction. Below are the lists of units at level 2 and the topics covered. For the Certificate you will need to complete four of these units including Improving Productivity:

  • Word Processing (4 credits)

  • Working with documents, editing text, printing, formatting text, tools, formatting paragraphs, tables, mail merge, objects.

  • Spreadsheets (4 credits)

  • Working with workbooks, formulas, editing, printing, formatting, functions & addressing, charts.

  • Presentations (4 credits)

  • Working with presentations, slides, formatting, organisation charts, tables, images, drawing objects, slide shows.

Entry requirements
  • Basic computer skills are needed.

  • Students should have completed the level 1 certificate in ITQ or a similar qualification (e.g. CLAiT, MOS Core, ECDL Essentials) or can demonstrate a working ability at the same level.

  • You may also be required to complete a skills assessment to ensure that the course is at the right level for you.

Future career and study opportunities

After completing the level 2 Award learners could progress to the Level 3 units or Certificate.
