Common Illnesses Affecting Children Level 2 Certificate

Common Illnesses Affecting Children Level 2 Certificate

Distance learning courses enable you to boost your career with a nationally recognised qualification even if you don’t have the time to attend training sessions. You will work your way through the qualification submitting work every 2 weeks, achieving within approximately three months.

Although there are many different illnesses that can be experienced during childhood, there are several which are common to many babies and children. Therefore, it is crucial that those who work, or want to work, with babies and children in an early years setting develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of common childhood illnesses. Not only will this help in ensuring babies and children who are unwell receive the care they need, but it will also help lessen the possibility of the illness spreading to others

This course will equip you with a strong understanding of common childhood illnesses, including how to provide a safe and healthy environment for babies and young children, how to recognise when a baby or child is unwell, and how to manage acute and chronic health conditions in an early years setting.

The course is split into four manageable units:

  • Principles of safe and healthy environments for babies and young children

  • Policies and procedures relating to safe and healthy environments for babies and young children

  • Knowledge of common childhood illnesses

  • Understanding health emergencies and health conditions in early years’ settings

  • This course is studied purely online and is ideal for those who are happy to work independently using our fully supported online learning platform.

For those local to Swindon, are returning to learning and would prefer to receive one-to-one support from a tutor, we offer a workbook option.

  • The course is fully funded by the Government and to qualify, you must be aged 19 at the start of the academic year, have been resident in England for the last three years and be a UK citizen.
