A GCSE at grade 4/C in Core Science, or grade 3/D in Additional Science/Chemistry or grade 3/D in Combined Science/Chemistry. If you don’t have these qualifications, we can consider if you have the necessary potential via a diagnostic test.
A GCSE in Chemistry is useful for many scientific areas of work, but it is also appreciated by non-science employers! This qualification will provide a solid foundation for pursuing further education and can open up a range of career opportunities.
A Grade 6/B will enable you to progress onto A Level Chemistry, and with a grade 4 (and an additional science) you could go on to study a BTEC Applied Science or A Level Psychology. Career options can then include a technician, pharmacist, forensic scientist, chemical engineer and many more.
This course does not contain a specific work experience component but many of the skills you will learn are essential to employability. If needed, our Employability Team can help you find local work placements that will support the course.
You will be expected to supply your own stationery and you may want to purchase a textbook. Contributions may also be required for extra activities and visits you wish to take part in.
