Catheterisation Training

This course explores the clinical skill of catheterisation and management of catheters including insertion.

This course will teach you the knowledge and skills to safely and correctly catheterise a male and female patient. We can also cover suprapubic catheterisation if needed (and agreed in advance of the course).

The learners will then need to return to practice and be signed off by a competent practitioner as per employer requirements. We can provide a competency framework if needed.

Entry requirements

To be a registered Healthcare Professional or be in a role that you will be undertaking this clinical skill.

Future career and study opportunities

This qualification can be a refresher or standalone clinical skill or part of a range of skills being undertaken. You can enrol on several clinical skills courses, Part Time courses or Full-time courses such as the Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care or BSc Professional Development in Health and Social Care.
