Advanced Skillset

Specialise in crafting and installing complex and decorative wood-based components. Your work will blend precision, safety, and quality, bringing intricate designs to life with the appropriate tools and techniques.

Your Path, Your Choice

Forge your own path by choosing between two advanced roles:

  • Advanced Site Carpenter: Make your mark on construction sites, tackling bespoke and intricate projects in both domestic and commercial settings.

  • Advanced Architectural Joiner: Master the art of complex components in a workshop environment, from advanced machine work to refurbishing bespoke pieces.

Collaborate and Lead

Work alongside professionals from across the construction spectrum, leading teams and contributing to the industry with your advanced skills. This apprenticeship paves the way for future roles as a team leader, trade foreperson, or contract manager.

Delivery and assessment

At the end of your qualification, you will complete an EPA which comprises of:

  • An online knowledge test

  • A practical observation

  • A professional review

Pay and training

As an apprentice, you’ll be:

  • Entitled to at least the National Minimum Apprenticeship Wage. For more information, visit gov.uk here.

  • Paid for time for training or study as part of your apprenticeship

  • Entitled to holiday pay and other employee rights

At least six hours per week of your normal working hours must be spent on ‘off the job’ training. Your ‘off the job’ training might happen every week, every month or in a separate block of time.

Entry requirements

You must be employed within a relevant job role to undertake the programme. Employers offer apprenticeship vacancies and will set job-specific entry requirements. We can also assist in finding you a suitable employer.

If you do not already hold a minimum GCSE Grade 4 in English and Maths (or equivalent) you will be required to study Functional Skills over three days in these areas as part of your apprenticeship. You must be able to achieve a minimum of Level 2 in your Initial Diagnostic Assessment to be accepted onto this apprenticeship.

Future career and study opportunities

You could consider a range of higher level construction qualifications or apprenticeship in Site Supervision or Management at the end of your studies.
