This course is for anyone wanting a career in the brickwork sector. It covers the key practical skills and knowledge required to become a bricklayer.
You will develop craft and hand-skills before progressing into further learning within brickwork trades. The course covers a wide range of topics including: health, safety and welfare in construction; technical information; construction technology; block, brick and cavity walling; setting out for basic masonry structures; and the mixing of construction materials.
You will be involved in demonstrations, practical work, theory lessons, computer sessions, tutorials, and project work. You will also have timetabled sessions in English, Maths and enrichment as part of your Study Programme.
Assessment for this qualification is through multiple choice knowledge tests and practical assignments.
You will need two GCSEs at grade 2 and above, together with a keen interest in brick laying.
Future career and study opportunities
On successful completion of this qualification you will be able to progress onto a Level 2 course or into an apprenticeship.
All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety boots and a hi-vis waistcoat, will be provided. You will need to supply your own stationery.
