AAT Bookkeeping Level 3 Certificate

AAT Bookkeeping Level 3 Certificate

The purpose of the AAT Level 3 Certificate in Book-keeping is to enhance book-keeping skills gained from the AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping or Level 2 Certificate in Accounting qualification.

The Level 3 Certificate in Book-keeping offers technical training in book-keeping and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in book-keeping/accounts preparation and enabling students to maximise opportunities in their current or new employment.

By studying for this qualification, students will acquire professional book-keeping/accounting skills that will be useful throughout their career.

Successful candidates can apply for Qualified Bookkeeping Status and will be awarded the letters AATQB after their name. If desired, successful candidates can also apply for a practice licence with the AAT enabling them to work as a licensed, self-employed bookkeeper.

The course is divided into two units:

  • Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements - This unit provides students with the skills and knowledge for making year-end adjustments, producing an extended trial balance, and preparing financial statements for sole traders and partnerships

  • Tax Processes for Businesses - The unit focusses on indirect tax (VAT) computations, processes, and regulations. The unit also covers payroll in relation to PAYE and NIC.

New College Swindon has had many years’ experience of running AAT courses with excellent pass rates which are well above the national average.

Students are given tutorial support on a regular basis and may take advantage of the many learning facilities that the College has to offer, including internet access and Microsoft 365.
