You will need a GCSE grade 4/C in core Science, or a grade 3/D in Additional Science/Biology, or a grade 3/D in Combined Science/Biology. If you don’t have these specific qualifications, you can undertake a diagnostic test to show that you have the necessary potential.
You will be expected to supply your own stationery and you may want to purchase a textbook. Contributions may also be required for extra activities and visits you wish to take part in.
Achieving a grade 6/B will enable you to progress onto A Level Biology. With a grade 5/C, you could go on to study BTEC Applied Science, T-levels, A Level Environmental Studies or A Level Psychology. This qualification will also count as a Science GCSE if you need one for Higher Education (eg. for a teaching course).
This course is free to students aged 16-18. Students aged 19+ will usually be charged a tuition fee, unless they meet certain eligibility criteria for fee remission. For those paying, an Advanced Learner Loan may be available. For further advice on fees, waivers and loans, please contact enrolment@newcollege.ac.uk.
