Accounting Level 3 Diploma

Accounting Level 3 Diploma

The purpose of the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting is to enhance the skills developed from the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting qualification.

The Level 3 Diploma in Accounting offers technical training in accounting and is ideal for you if you would like to pursue or progress your career in accountancy or finance, and maximise opportunities in your current or new employment. By studying for this qualification, you will acquire professional accountancy and finance skills that will be useful throughout your career.

Study units including:

  • Developing financial accounting knowledge through processing year-end adjustments and preparing financial statements for sole traders and partnerships

  • Applying management accounting techniques to make appropriate decisions within the organisation

  • Indirect tax (VAT) computations and regulations as well as basic payroll processes

  • Considering the wider business environment.

The Diploma in Accounting is a competency-based Education and Training Scheme offered by The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the largest dedicated professional body for qualified accounting technicians.

The course is delivered face to face at our North Start Campus on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm-9pm. There are four assessments, each taking place at the end of a taught unit. All assessments are computer based with two having an instant (or near instant) result, and two with results released 3-6 weeks after the exam. The pass mark for all assessments is 70%.

Entry requirements

You must have completed and passed AAT Level 2 to enrol on this course. Where a potential student has needed a number of resits at Level 2, we would recommend enrolling on the Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping and completing the full Diploma over two years. We may ask you to take the AAT Skill Check in order to ensure that the most appropriate progression is offered.

Future career and study opportunities

After completion of the AAT Diploma in Accounting course, you will be able to claim Qualified Bookkeeper status from the AAT (AATQB).

You may wish to progress onto the AAT Diploma in Professional Accounting (Level 4) to gain Qualified Accounting Technician status (MAAT), and/or continue your studies with the ACCA, ICAEW or CIMA to become a fully Chartered Accountant.
