Achievement rates

In the National Achievement Rates Tables (NART) for academic year 2018/19, our achievement rates were the highest of all local colleges for both the 16-18 and all-ages, all qualifications groups:

Achievement rates
General FR and Tertiary College Overall acheivement rate (16-18)
New College Swindon 88.4%
Cirencester College 81.7%
Wiltshire College 80.8%
National achievement rate 82.8%

A Level value added / Progress scores

These value-added scores tell you how much progress an A Level student makes between the end of Key Stage Four (GCSE study) and the end of their A Level studies. Scores can be compared across different schools and colleges.

New College scores are the highest of any other state school or college in Swindon or Cirencester. With so many more A Level students than other providers, this is an even more significant achievement!

A Level and vocational results 2019

In Summer 2019, our A Level pass rates were on a par with, or better than, most local 6th forms. Our overall pass rate was 98%, with over 41% of grades at A*A or B (up from 40% last year), with 61 students achieving at least 3 A*-B grades - and we have many more A Level students and entries than schools. Our BTEC Extended Diploma results were also good; 58% students achieved Distinctions. You can view our results for A Levels and vocational courses by subject.
