New College student Honey Mercer has won a competition to shoot an image for the New College corporate Christmas card. Level 2 Photography students have been working hard over the past few weeks to shoot and edit entries for the competition, which is run every year.
Students experienced what it would be like to work to a brief, with real-life clients. All of those who entered gathered their own props and came up with independent photography concepts. Images presented ranged from nutcrackers, snowmen, deer, candy canes and Santa Claus, using techniques such as light drawing and bokeh.
Honey Mercer, a pre-16 student, was the overall winner. She created an image of a snowman figure in a cup of hot chocolate against a bokeh light background.
Amanda Walton, Head of Marketing and Customer Services commented:
“The images this year were some of the best we have ever seen and there were several contenders for the winning entry. All the students had put a great deal of effort into researching, filming, editing and presenting their work and as the client, we were really impressed. Honey's image was warm and festive and of a very high quality; a really worthy winner.”
Honey was presented with her prize: an Amazon voucher and printed copies of her winning card by Carole Kitching, Principal and CEO of New College.
