New College is proud to announce that it has achieved Microsoft Showcase College status. It is one of only twelve colleges in country to have been awarded this prestigious title.

The Microsoft Show Case College programme is a leadership-focused initiative to highlight innovative leading and teaching. As a Showcase College, leadership teams are part of a professional community that recognises and amplifies the use of technology to drive transformation and efficiencies college-wide.

New College were awarded the title after successfully demonstrating their diverse and innovative use of Office 365 within teaching across the college. They also showed the ways in which they embrace and utilise new technologies within teaching and learning.

The college offers staff exciting training opportunities and the chance to gain qualifications, including the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) awards. This gives staff the opportunity to develop technical proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook and then progress further on to Microsoft Expert qualifications.

With Showcase status, the college will receive access to product trials and Microsoft early adoption pilots, as well as opportunities to share their expertise with world-renowned educators and specialists.

New College Principal, Carole Kitching, said: “New College prides itself on being a centre for digital excellence, offering free access to a wide range of cutting-edge technology which is helping to transform teaching and learning. We give our learners every opportunity to achieve their full potential and prepare for a career in this ever-evolving digital landscape. We are delighted to have been accepted by Microsoft to support our digital progression and be one of the few centres in the country with ‘Showcase College’ status.”
